Enlightened Sensors

 

Many eco-friendly buildings have automation systems that reduce energy waste thereby conserving costs and expenses. A building automation system (BAS) enables an operator to access control and monitor the building systems using electronic devices that are connected to a network wirelessly. An IoT BAS uses enlightened sensors, a software-defined sensor to gather data and manage lighting. Enlightened sensors must be installed into each light fixture of a building which will create a grid for data to be collected in a cloud. Enlightened sensor types are either surface sensors, micro-sensors, high bay sensors or ruggedized sensors that enable energy savings by daylight harvesting, occupancy of spaces detection and a time-of-day dimming schedule.
