Computer science (CS) is the designing, development and testing of computers, computer software and software systems. CS applies mathematic and engineering principles to focus on aspects of cybersecurity, algorithms and computer networks, artificial intelligence.
Technology is the equipment and machines developed from scientific knowledge to apply skills and processes that can be used to make human life better.
Major Computer Disciplines include:
1. Computer engineering is the combining of computer science and electronic engineering to design and develop the computers hardware, the physical components of a computer; and software the computer programs.2. Information systems are computer components used to collect, process, analyze, organize, and store data, as well as, digital information.
3. Information technology is the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computers, computer hardware and software, networks and data base systems.
4. Software engineering designs, develops and evaluates computer software to include: application software, system software and programming software.
Six main computer types include:
1. Supercomputer are considered the most powerful type of computer in the world, they are used to compute large amounts of data outputs that must be analyzed such as: chemical compounds, weather, climate, nuclear weapons and reactors. There are two major types of super computers: general and special supercomputers, currently there are 116 supercomputers in the United States.
3. Minicomputer is the medium sized computer set in between, the mainframe computer and microcomputer; containing two or more processors enables multiprocessing capacity which makes them great for data management. These machines are large in a size with a large memory to store large amounts of data.
5. Analogue computer is used to monitor and process data that continues to change, it can be used in engineering for simulations and modeling.
6. Laptops & Notebooks are personal, portable computers used for work, education, game playing, listening to music and browsing the web.
