A Migrade Kitchen

We have previously discussed the appliances that can result in you having a basic kitchen; the blender, toaster and mixer. However most chefs amateur or professional have these additional appliances at their disposal to enhance their meal preparation. An air fryer is a newer invention that came on the scene a few years ago and has quickly become a trend in cooking. Although there is not much talk about the microwave these days, I have a new found respect for its defrost function. My being able to quickly defrost food items without them being cooked has made cooking in a pinch all the more enjoyable. Lastly the toaster oven, I can remember as a young girl my parents bought me an easy bake oven and I instantly fell in love with it. I was able to transfer those skills to using a toaster oven and I have never looked back.
☆ The air fryer was developed with the idea of it being a healthier approach to preparing some of your favorite fried foods without the excess cooking oil. An air fryer is a convection oven that evaporates water from you food causing it to fry by  circulating air in a circular motion through heating spirals. The air fryer has 3 basic parts:
1. Air fryer base- located at the bottom and holds the basket
2. Basket- contains holes to pull air through
3. Basket base- holds the basket in place

☆ The microwave was invented in 1945 to assist in the preparation of foods by decreasing cooking time which resulted in the reheating or cooking food quickly. The microwave can perform its function by using radiation waves that cause the water molecules in food to vibrate. The major parts of the microwave are:
1. Cooking fan
2. Control panel
3. Cooking cavity
4. Door
5. High voltage transformer
6. Magnetron
7. Power cord
8. Turntable, and
9. Wave guide

☆ The toaster oven was invented in 1910 to cook and reheat small portions of food. This machine assisted families by reducing the use of the household stovetop and oven. This method was designed to be simple and safe for children to use with minimal adult supervision. The toaster oven performs its function by way of radiation heat, the circulation of warm air and the conduction of heat from the metal pan in which the food is placed. The major components of the toaster oven are:
1. A metal body- warning, it gets hot when cooking
2. Control panel- contains knobs to control timer and temperature
3. Convection fan- used to circulate air
4. Light bulb- the heat source
5. Trays- used for baking and collecting crumbs
