Satellites

Satellites are technological devices that collects and transmits data, currently there are more than 4,000 satellites in orbit with that number to increase in the future. Satellites typically occupy the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) however as the number of satellites increases so does the likelihood of collisions that will occur. When satellite collisions occur this not only disrupts communication between the satellite and computer systems on earth but satellite collisions result in space debris. To track and monitor satellite collisions LEO Labs utilize radar tracking systems to provide collision avoidance services. This is achieved by the use of beams that track the position, path and velocity of moving satellites as well as provide email alerts to satellite operators to move satellites to thereby avoid collisions.
