To level up from a midgrade kitchen to a premium kitchen you MUST have appliances that will enhance your cooking skills even further. At first glance these appliances can be taken for granted because they may not be used all the time BUT a chef knows that when they use them, meals are beyond amazing leaving diners speechless. Initially you might think that a food processor doesn't qualify as a premium appliance but hear me out. Meal prep is a key initial step in the cooking process and more often than not it requires the manual slicing, dicing and chopping of various types of fresh fruits and vegetables or nuts. A food processor handles this task for you so that you can have more time to dedicate to the actual cooking of the meal. The pressure cooker can typically be found sitting on a countertop or in a box waiting to be used. When a chef decides to use this baby just know that you are in for a highly charged cooking and eating experience. The pressure cooker has a way of marrying flavors from all ingredients in a way that can make basic soups taste fantastic! Ah alas the coveted electric turkey fryer speaks for itself with its ability to deep fry a whole turkey or chicken evenly making this appliance a keeper for the advanced chef.
☆ Although initial version of the food processor were invented in the 1940's in Europe, the domestic food processor was invented in 1963. Its blades can manage repetitive tasks without blending food products which can make this machine an additional hand in the kitchen. The food processor can be divided into 5 basic parts:
1. A motor- located at the base of the food processor and powers the blades.
2. Attachments and Blades- additional food processor parts and blades provided to slice, chop and grate your food.
3. Bowl- holds the processes food.
4. Controls- located at the base, contains both power and pulse buttons.
5. Lid with feed tube & pusher- the lid is located at the top of the bowl and keeps the food inside; the pusher pushes food through the food tube.
☆ The pressure cooker, also known as, an "instant/insta" pot prepares your food using high pressure steam formed from the liquid in the food placed in the sealed pot chamber. You MUST use caution when operating this machine and adhere to instructions as the pot contains very HOT and pressurized food. Although they are much safer now than when first invented you must continue to use caution.The basic parts of a pressure cooker are:
1. Air vent- releases hot air from the pressure cooker while the food is cooking
2. Body chamber- holds the food
3. Cover handle- monitors pressure inside the chamber
4. Over pressure plug- releases excess pressure within the pressure cooker
5. Pressure regulator- is the pressure indicator that monitors the internal pressure within the chamber
6. Sealing ring- a seal between the cover and body of the pressure cooker
7. Vent pipe- allows excess steam to leave the chamber
☆ The electric turkey fryer- is an indoor safer option to frying your turkey outdoors, that does not require much oil or a fire. The electric turkey fryer can typically hold a 20lb turkey or a whole chicken and can fry your poultry in approximately an hour and thirty minutes. The major parts of the electric turkey fryer are:
1. Break away cord- for power
2. Control panel- to control power and temperature
3. Inner pot- holds the basket
4. Lid- to cover the poultry
5. Outer shell- is the body of the fryer
6. Turkey basket- holds the poultry in place
