Water Rides

One of the most entertaining ways to cool off on a hot summers day would be to go to a water park for a day of slashing in the sun. This adventure is fun for family members of all ages as they have something for everyone. Water at a water park doesn't stand still as it is influenced by the movement of waves that can be experienced at the beach and water parks. Waves are repeatedly disturbances that move through water in one direction carrying energy that can be transferred. There are two wave types that influence the movement of water, longitudinal waves and transverse waves. Longitudinal waves move water below the surface, whereas transverse waves can be observed on the surface of water as they move up and down.

Atlanta can have some pretty hot days so you are provided with options to cool off. These options include the water park at Lake Lanier Islands and White Water Six Flags. At these two water parks there are rides that are influenced by the movement of waves for your enjoyment. At White Water Six Flags the Little Hooch River was one of my favorites as it is a lazy river channel that carries you with the only effort that you must apply is getting in! It is the waves that transfer their energy to you or your floatation device to carry you along. The Wild Waves Pool at Lake Lanier Islands enables you to experience ocean waves while being on the lake. This is achieved by using a wave  machine that is designed to simulate ocean waves in which the frequency of the wave is determined by the speed of the wave and wavelength so that you will have a moment to catch your breath!
