Train Systems
The first locomotive was invented in the 1800's which paved the way for the passenger train systems that some of our major cities utilize today for transport. An elevated trains tracks are located above city streets and can be either a monorail or people mover system. A monorail railway has only one track for passenger transportation, I can remember using the Las Vegas Monorail while visiting at the turn of the millennium. A people mover system is an automated system that transports passengers and are used at airports like the ATL Sky Train at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport which I used frequently while traveling. Elevated train systems contain heavy traction power cables that are used to power the train.
A metro system is commonly used in urban areas to transport passengers rapidly while simultaneously avoiding traffic. It is frequently referred to as public transportation and is a cost effective way of getting around town. I have been privileged to reside in areas in which I had access to public transportation and it made my life easier. While living outside Atlanta the MARTA Rail System was a great method of transportation when attending large events in the city without having to experience the infamous traffic jams. When I moved to Chicago the "L" train system was both a life and time saver! I lived comfortably on the South Side of Chicago not owning a car because the train systems were in such close proximity. When visiting the above cities listed and others the use of train systems can transport you to your desired destinations safely and inexpensively.
