Airplane

The aviation industry is responsible for traveling that occurs by air as well as air travel research, manufacturing and military. Although the first airplane was invented in 1903 and the first passage plane invented in 1933 the industry has come a long way. With gasoline being a natural resource that is in limited supply air travel will have to adapt. One possibility would be the engineering and manufacturing of electric air planes that will be fueled using hydrogen power.

A fixed wing airplane is composed of:
  1. the fuselage/body of the plane necessary for stability
  2. the tail is also for stability
  3. the cockpit contains all of the controllers for pilots
  4. the engine(s) power the airplane
  5. landing gear is used when an airplane lands back on the ground

For an airplane to get off the ground it is dependent on the engine to create a thrust force by using the propellers to drive the plane forward. The wings of the plane are used to control the lift force which is the force opposite the weight of the plane; this means that the lift force must be greater than the weight of the airplane to keep it in air. This is why our luggage is weighed during check in at the airport.
