Coffee & Espresso Makers

This article is dedicated to the coffee drinkers who wake daily looking forward to their first sip of roasted goodness. The first coffee maker was invented in the late 1800's, back then the machine would ground the coffee beans to ready them for the percolating process. Historically a coffee maker consisted of a heat pad, water-stock cylinder, filter cup & filter, as well as the coffee pot. Today coffee has be remastered to produce a single serving for coffee drinkers to conserve both coffee beans and water. This new approach was achieved by engineering a smaller coffee cup pod that holds the coffee and enables filtration, as well as replacing the coffee pot with your own coffee cup.

The espresso machine was also invented in the late 1800's however its process of producing a hot coffee drink was slightly different. The espresso maker uses high pressure to force the water over the coffee and filter to produce a more concentrated form of coffee. Thie main parts of the espresso maker are the:

1. Group head creates the coffee drink by bringing the water out of the machine and into the filter basket, it can be viewed as the heart of the machine

2. Portafilter is the handle that attaches to the group head so that the water can run through the coffee grounds

3. Steam wand serves to release the steam generated from the broiler

4. Pressure & Temperature dials are used to observe and monitor the steam pressure and temperature

5. Shot buttons are used to determine the volume of the shot that you desire
