The Waffle Iron and Electric Griddle

 

The first waffle iron was invented in the late 1800's, back then it required that you place the waffle iron on a wood stove to prepare the waffles. The waffle iron is composed of two honeycomb patterned metal plates and a heating element; some waffle makers also contain a handle. Today waffle makers typically make either circle or square waffles however, there is also a Star Wars waffle maker out there for enthusiast. Currently you can choose a waffle maker that can produce a single waffle, 2 waffles, 4 waffles or even 6 waffles at a time.

The first griddle was invented in the 14th century when our ancestors used a stone slab outdoors to prepare flat breads, whereas the first pancake griddle was invented in the 15th century. Over time the griddle was engineered to be used indoors on a gas stove to prepare pancakes. Today many of our griddles are electric gadgets composed of a non-stick metal or ceramic sheet, 2 handles and a temperature heat controller that can be used on your countertop. Some griddles are large enough to prepare your mornings breakfast moreover there are even some that also contain a grill plate so that you can prepare fish, beef and vegetables.
