When managing a lawn space, the string trimmer is a must have tool to utilize for cutting tall grass and weeds. The string trimmer is perfect for managing areas along fencing, sidewalks and previously landscaped beds. This tool can be powered using either electricity or gas, with a shaft that is either straight or curved. It is the actual string that is installed in the string trimmer that cuts down unwanted grass and weeds; string trimmer string is categorized according to work type and shape. Light work string measures 0.0065 to 0.080 inches and is typically used for residential yards. Medium work string measures 0.85 to 0.105 inches and is used for commercial property. Heavy work string measures 0.110 inches and larger making it useful for industrial areas. Round string works well for residential areas with it being composed of nylon, whereas the string types for commercial and industrial landscaping are multi-sided, square, twisted and serrated. The motor of the string trimmer enables the string to circulate for cutting action to occur. The gas motor is powered using an internal combustion engine opposite the shaft, whereas the electric motor is a hydraulic motor that is located in the cutting head of the string trimmer.
