Many Metropolitain/Urban cities utilize nuclear power to power the city. There is a goal to produce an unlimited source of energy power but to do so a fission reaction must occur. Nuclear reactors are used at power plants to generate energy by way of the process known as nuclear fission; a series of chain reactions in which hydrogen ions are forced together. Joint European Torus , JET in Oxford has a commercial fission reactor that can produce up to 320MW of power with a goal to produce an unlimited source of energy power. For this goal to be achieved the temperature must be at 10 times the temperature of the sun (100 million degrees) with the power needing to be greater than the power input to ensure a net gain of power. JET is currently building a machine to produce enough power input with the hope that it will be ready by 2025, then the focus would be on ensuring a full fission reaction. However private companies want a nuclear reactor for fission to be built by 2024.
